The chapel of the seven saints.

Seven Km from Plouaret, the chapel of the 7 saints is located in a hamlet, part of Le Vieux-Marché village. The chapel is dedicated to the seven sleeping saints of Ephesus- in Turkey now-Their history is found in a breton ballad and in the 18th verse of the Coran. This inspired a scholar in oriental civilisations, Louis Massignon, to build a bridge between the christian and the muslim religions. So each year, at the end of July, people of muslim and christian faith meet together, united in the worship for a sharing of peace.


Plounerin lake

Plounerin lake was bought by the communal group of Beg ar C’hra in 1998. The lake and surroundings were developped with state and european funding.This exceptional site was noted by the scheme Natura 2000 for the richness of its fauna and of its flora . You may walk around the the lake on the pathway – about an hour’s walk -. It is possible to see Camargues horses, squirrels, herons, and other diverse birds can be wacthed from the bird watching platform. This a walk not to be missed


The site of the former Kernansquillec dam

The dam of Kernansquillec was constructed at the beginning of the last century . It was built to provide electricity to the Vallée paper mills, it was sited in Belle- Isle -en -Terre , on the edge of Plounévez – Moëdec . For safety reasons, this dam was demolished in 2000 – first time in France- Later, the site was redevelopped and is managed now by a communal group. It is a magnificent setting an d the information board tells the history of the valley


Tonquedec and the Leguer valley

The valley of Leguer from Lannion to Belle- Isle -en –Terre offers a magnificent setting. There are pathways along the riverside where yo can discover treasures : the medieval castle of Tonquedec or the more recent Kergrist also, old renovated water mills, chapels, manor houses. The real Tregor is to be found here rather than on on he coast.
